Which type of ice cream scoop is suitable?
There are 2 types of ice cream scoops commonly used on the market: the spring-loaded ice cream scoop and the plain-handled ice cream scoop. Baby Boss will introduce the features of these two types of ice cream scoops to help you choose the right one for your needs.
- Plain-handled ice cream scoop

Premium plain-handled ice cream scoops are made from a single piece of stainless metal and have a fixed size, making them highly durable. However, they can be difficult for beginners to use to shape ice cream into a scoop
For those who are already skilled at using them, plain-handled ice cream scoops can help you create beautifully rounded scoops of ice cream
- Spring-loaded ice cream scoop

Premium spring-loaded ice cream scoops are usually made from stainless steel, with a spring in the handle and a lever inside the scoop, allowing beginners to scoop and release the ice cream easily
As spring-loaded ice cream scoops have a lever, it is difficult to create perfectly round scoops. The scoops are usually not as round as those made with a plain-handled ice cream scoop
How many scoops can be made from 1 Kg of ice cream?
When using a plain-handled ice cream scoop, the scoop is often hollow inside, so the number of scoops is usually higher than when using a spring-loaded ice cream scoop

The number of scoops depends largely on the seller's scooping technique. Baby Boss would like to provide a reference figure based on information from the company's customers: 1kg of the company's ice cream makes approximately 35 scoops when using a plain-handled ice cream scoop
Using a spring-loaded ice cream scoop usually produces denser scoops than using a plain-handled ice cream scoop

Spring-loaded ice cream scoops usually have 3 opening diameters: 4cm, 5cm, 6cm. The number of scoops that can be made according to the size of each scoop opening is as follows
- Scoop 4 cm: Makes 28 to 30 scoops of ice cream
- Scoop 5 cm: Makes 23 to 25 scoops of ice cream
- Scoop 6 cm: Makes 18 to 20 scoops of ice cream
The portion weight of one scoop made with a spring-loaded ice cream scoop has a margin of error of plus or minus 2 gram, depending on the airiness of the ice cream and the force applied by the user when scooping.
