Mistakes that make tea unhealthy
Tea offers many health benefits, such as weight loss and increased antioxidant intake,… However, it can become harmful to your health due to some mistakes we make when drinking tea.

Tea is one of the most popular drinks enjoyed by many people, and it offers many benefits such as weight loss and increased antioxidant intake,...

In fact, there are many health benefits to drinking black tea and even green tea regularly. However, if you are not careful about what you add to your tea, it can become harmful to the body. Here are 4 mistakes that make tea unhealthy.

Adding too much sugar

It is known that sugar is harmful to health; too much sugar can lead to weight gain and diabetes. Whether it is sugar or a few drops of your favourite honey, sugar is still sugar.

Adding a little sweetness to tea will not cause immediate harm, but in the long term it will affect your health. The best way to enjoy your tea is to drink it plain.

Adding too much artificial sweetener to tea

If you still need something sweet in your cup of tea but do not want to consume too many calories, using a low-calorie sweetener is an alternative. But is it safe?

Although research has not yet been able to conclude that artificial sweeteners are harmful to the body, the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) recommends that you should still limit your use of these sweeteners.

But if you need something sweet, it is still an alternative that you can use. However, make sure to keep your consumption of these substitutes to a minimum.

Adding too much cream or milk

Cream or milk is another common additive often added to a cup of tea. As with sugar, you should limit your consumption to avoid consuming too many calories.

However, you can still add a little cream to your tea, but make sure to measure an appropriate amount of cream to avoid increasing your calorie intake.

Brewing too much tea or steeping it for too long

When you sip a cup of tea, the average amount of caffeine received ranges from 20 – 40 milligrams. However, if you brew too much tea or leave it to steep for too long, the amount of caffeine in the cup can increase significantly.

If you are planning to cut down on caffeine to protect your health, make sure to control the amount of tea you brew or the time you steep it so that you do not increase your caffeine intake too much. In addition, the tea will not taste bitter, according to Eatthis.
